MANDATORY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR AND MEAT PROCESSING CHECK IN AT WORK
As soon as you work with foreign employees in Belgium in the construction sector or meat processing, you are required to register their presence via the online platform Check In At Work. This is a government measure to combat social fraud and undeclared work.
There are two variants, depending on the sector:
Persons who perform construction work (in the construction sector) on a site where the total cost is equal to or higher than a specific threshold amount.
Anyone performing activities related to meat preparations or meat products and the slaughtering or cutting of hoofed animals, poultry and rabbits in establishments subject to recognition (approvals, permits, and prior registrations) by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC).

Who is responsible?
The registration in Checkinatwork is a shared responsibility. Both the client and the person performing the work must ensure that the attendances are correctly registered.
Make clear agreements about who carries out the registration. In addition, the workplaces for which registration is mandatory must also be correctly indicated in the Declaration of works via Checkinatwork.
Attendance registration can be done in several ways:
- You as the employer or contractor can perform the registration.
- Subcontractors are also allowed to register the attendance of their employees.
- Employees and self-employed subcontractors can register themselves via Itsme.
Note: registration must be done daily, before the start of the workday!
